我大约在一年前开始了一份新工作,担任一个遗留企业系统的产品负责人/经理。不幸的是,这份工作完全没有达到我的预期,也与面试过程中所描述的情况相去甚远,原因有很多。
我不想过多深入,但主要原因是我原本应该领导一个现代化项目,以通过现代的基于API的集成来扩展我们的遗留企业系统,但我们的开发团队在构建、测试、交付和维护API方面完全没有经验,这使得我作为产品负责人/项目经理的工作变得异常困难。在其他公司我习惯于一两周内完成的事情,在这里却需要几个月才能交付,而且质量也远不如我所期待的。这让我在与客户会面时感到非常尴尬,因为管理层声称现代化和系统集成是我们的首要任务,但我们在经过六个月的努力后,连几个GET端点都无法交付……
我可以继续说下去,但老实说,我非常不喜欢这份工作。我正在尽力寻找其他职位,但我所在的地方(瑞典)目前市场竞争非常激烈。我认为我的简历相当不错,拥有一所优秀大学的硕士学位和大约十年的技术工作经验,但瑞典目前在欧盟的失业率中排名第三,因此每个职位的竞争非常激烈。当然,我能做的就是尽力而为。
我最担心的是这份工作正在慢慢让我感到痛苦。由于这份工作,我开始出现一些令人担忧的心理健康症状,特别是严重的焦虑。我也有过一些非常消极的想法,这让我感到非常害怕。我的医生给我开了一些抗抑郁药,我也在接受治疗,但现在还不能确定这些是否有帮助。

I started a new job a little less than a year ago as a product owner/manager for a legacy enterprise system. Unfortunately the job has not at all been what I expected and what was sold to me in the interview process for a number of reasons.<p>I don't want to get too much into it, but the main reason is that my job was supposed to be leading a modernization project to expand our legacy enterprise system with modern API-based integrations, but our development team simply does not have experience with building, testing, shipping, and maintaining APIs, which has made my job as a PO/PM considerably more difficult. Things I was used to taking a week or two max at other companies take many months to ship and aren't really built with the quality I would expect. This makes it really awkward for me when we have to meet with customers and mention that modernization and system integrations are our top priority according to the management team, yet we can't even ship a few GET endpoints after six months of work...<p>I could go on and on, but honestly I just strongly dislike this job. I'm trying my best to find another role, but the market is really competitive right now where I live (Sweden). I would say I have a quite decent CV, with a masters from an excellent university and around a decade of work experience in tech, but Sweden currently has the third highest unemployment rate in the EU so there is a huge amount of competition for each role. But of course, all I can do is do my best.<p>My main concern is that this job is slowly making me sick. I have started to have really concerning mental health symptoms, specifically severe anxiety, due to this job. I've also had some really dark thoughts which has scared me a lot. My doctor started me on some antidepressants and I am receiving therapy, but it's too early to say if it has helped or not.<p>I don't know how much more I can take before I end up on some kind of sick leave. But I'm trying to take it day by day and I am trying to stay positive. Hopefully I can find another job soon, but until then I am stuck in this job.<p>For those of you who have been stuck in jobs you strongly dislike, how did you manage to separate your work from your life so that you could survive the situation? Did you find something that worked for you to ease the situation until you could find another job?<p>Thanks for taking the time to read this. I really appreciate any feedback or advice.
